Humanitarian, Writer, and Communicator in Kenya
Ang’asa is a communicator and a bundle of energy. Luckily, my work allows me to constantly be both. I am a creative: a photographer, writer and poet. I got my first publishing - 2 poems - in the 2013 Power of Words: An Anthology of Poems by KePoLo (Kenya Poets Lounge) Books and looking forward working with more projects especially with other African writers.
As a young girl I recounted movies and TV shows, tales from books I had read and any happenings I could to my friends and anyone that would listen. Now I am constantly finding ways to tell stories and create content for newsletters, websites and social media channels. I love developing strategic approaches around communication and finding the best ways to paint a picture.
I studied Human Resource Management but my growing interest in writing, technology and photography drew me towards the field of communication. I am now pursing an MBA in Strategic Management and a Diploma in Digital Marketing.
While working as a Communications Officer at Agrics Kenya (www.agrics.org), an agri focused organisation working with communities in Western Kenya and Northern Tanzania, my work revolved around showing and telling what the agribusiness program did and its impact on the lives of small holder farmers in the program regions.
My typical day? Management of social media platforms, monitoring impact of media projects, developing and driving on and off line communications strategies, creating and managing content, providing support to field teams and managing brand growth.
In a nutshell - Ang’asa is a technology, photography and social media enthusiast keen on connecting with audiences through writing and photography.
