Founder and Exec. Director of Chicas Latinas de Sacramento and Strategic Communications Consultant, specializing in advocacy and nonprofit communications solutions.

Angela is a former journalist and a natural storyteller, who is well-versed in both local and statewide equity issues. She founded a Latina volunteer cultivation and leadership nonprofit in 2009, which serves the Sacramento region. Angela has worked on numerous statewide and local public affairs and public relation campaigns.

One of Angela’s greatest strengths is her ability to relate to a diverse range of communities and engage both niche and broad audiences, ensuring messaging is culturally relevant and reach niche audiences where they are at. She enjoys training and hosting workshops for grassroots nonprofits, to teach community advocates how to effectively share their stories and help organizations raise awareness around the issues that impact their community.

Former External Affairs and Media Relations Communications Specialist at California Complete Count Census 2020, appointed under Gov. Brown. Prior to her role with the 2020 Census, Angela was a Director at Mercury Public Affairs' Sacramento office, consulting on statewide media relations for equity campaigns and clients.

Angela Chavez has a B.A. in journalism from CSUS. She worked as a multi-media reporter in the Central Valley.

Angela Chavez took her devotion to community and change, and her knack for story-telling, from the newsroom and directly to the people of Sacramento -- becoming a true “voice for the voiceless.”
