Angela Melvin

As traffic anchor at Fox 4 WFTX-TV, Angela Melvin helps viewers in the Fort Myers, Florida, area navigate morning traffic. During the day, Angela Melvin uses her leadership and communications expertise as director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sun Coast. She has received praise from colleagues and managers for her calmness under stress and compassion for others, as well as for her technical and creative journalism and communication skills.

At Big Brothers Big Sisters, Melvin has led a variety of fundraising efforts for the organization, including the Chefs Cooking for Kids event, which brought 17 local chefs together with auctions and cocktails for a fundraising total of $60,000. In addition, Melvin plays a key role in cultivating donor relationships with Costco, the Boston Red Sox, and other organizations.

A graduate of the University of Florida’s journalism and communications programs, Angela Melvin began her career as a reporter and anchor at stations in Georgia and Florida before taking a position as communications director for a high-profile member of the Florida congressional delegation.
