Angelo Artemas

Fr. Angelo Artemas is a longtime priest in the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese who most recently served as pastor of Metropolis of Chicago for nearly 20 years. His additional responsibilities included writing a monthly column for the Orthodox Observer. Within the academic sphere, Fr. Angelo Artemas lectured at institutions of higher learning such as Marquette University and Wheaton College.

Fr. Artemas attended Canisius College in Buffalo, New York, as an undergraduate and went on to complete his master of divinity at St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary (SVOTS) in Yonkers. He also attended SVOTS as a doctoral student and completed his education there in the mid-1990s.

Fr. Artemas’ experience as a pastor began in the late 1980s when he engaged with Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Toledo, Ohio, for three years. He next served as director of the Youth Ministry of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese in New York, New York. Fr. Angelo Artemas additionally took on simultaneous roles with the Mount Sinai Medical Center HIV Unit and St. Michael’s Home and Rehabilitation as chaplain.
