Angel Rafael Rivera

Ángel Rafael Rivera is an independent journalist and writer fluent in English and Spanish, based in Methuen, Massachusetts. With more than 30 years of professional experience, he began his career as a hired columnist for Boston’s El Universal in the 1990s and later for Siglo21 in Lawrence, MA. He also contributed briefly to Rumbo and wrote opinion pieces for The Valley Patriot before founding pioneering digital outlets, including LawrenceInteractivo.com and NotiLatino.com, which reached audiences across the United States and attracted national contributors. In 2004, he was honored by the Golden Circle Community Awards as Journalist and Columnist of the Year.

He currently publishes daily on Facebook through Noticias del Valle, covering the Merrimack Valley with a focus on community reporting, municipal accountability, and political analysis. His essays and commentary have also appeared in El Nuevo Día, where he writes on Puerto Rico’s political status, public policy, civil rights, and the experience of the diaspora. He is developing his first political satire novel and is available for freelance assignments.
