Anghiras Mahadevan is an 18-year-old mridangam artist who began learning the instrument at the age of four. He initially trained under Vidwan Shri S. V. Balakrishna and Vidwan Shri Vinay Nagarajan, and is currently pursuing advanced training in the Pudukottai bani under the guidance of Vidwan Shri Neyveli B. Venkatesh.

He made his Margazhi Season debut in 2025 at the age of 18, presenting over 15 concerts across prominent sabhas, marking a significant milestone in his performing career.

Anghiras has performed extensively in sabhas, temples, and baithak settings across South India, accompanying several accomplished Carnatic musicians. He has also had the opportunity to accompany Kalaimamani Tiger Subramaniam. His performance repertoire spans both traditional Carnatic concerts and contemporary fusion settings.

He is a prizewinner at the Madras Music Academy Mridangam Competition (Second Place) and has received several recognitions including the Rotary Award, Mohan Dev Alva Award, and Shrivani Award. He has also secured Distinction in the State Mridangam Examination. As a soloist, he placed 3rd at the VIVUM Fusion competition (The International School Bangalore).

In addition to performing, Anghiras teaches mridangam, contributes to managing Unnati’s Instagram presence, and has presented a lecture-demonstration integrating performance with analytical insight. During his school years, he served as the Music Association Facilitator (Music Badge) and was Event Head for interschool music events for over 2 years.
