Angie Leonard Davis
Special Education Coordinator in Plano, Texas
I am currently a Special Education Coordinator in a large suburban school district. I specialize in curriculum and instruction.
My educational background includes attending Lamar University where I earned a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education and where I also earned a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership. I am continuing my love of research and pursuing my Educational Doctorate also at Lamar University pending graduation in August 2017. My dissertation evaluates the trials and tribulations of Secondary Principals as instructional leaders in inclusive environments.
I have been fortunate to have a variety of teaching experiences over the past 17 years. I began my career as a first grade teacher. I then taught second grade for two years in Florida where I obtained a gifted certification. Upon returning to Texas, I began teaching English and reading in the special education resource setting for 6th, 7th. and 8th grade.
I currently hold Texas teaching certifications including, Principal, Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, and Special Education. In addition, I am a a certified appraiser for T-TESS.
My current collaborative projects include Universal Design for Learning, inclusion studies for students served by special education, and research in the overrepresentation of students served by special education.
When I am not with my students, I am a mother of two boys and I am blessed with an amazing husband. My evenings are often spent at baseball practice while trying to sneak in a few educational journals!
