Anita J McKenzie

Hi, I’m Anita J, an interfaith spiritual counsellor, meditation teacher, interfaith minister, photographer, digital artist, grandmother, and woman. I’m also sixty-five-something, with ADHD and dyslexia, discoveries that came later in life and explained so much: why I have always moved between different forms of work and creativity at once, why my mind has always worked expansively and intuitively. What once felt misunderstood, I now recognise as part of my way of seeing and being in the world.

My philosophy is simple: the spiritual, the creative, and the relational energetically inform one another. My work as an interfaith minister shapes my photography and digital art; my creative practice deepens the way I hold space spiritually. I understand life’s events within the gift of spirit, through reflection, forgiveness, repair and reconnection.

I founded Healing Imagetwenty plus years ago, as the kind of space I longed for for myself: a place where women can be seen, valued, and met fully, without judgement or performance. Across many spaces, that sense of being truly witnessed was missing. Healing Image grew from the desire to offer something inspired and special.

My practice draws from the wisdom teachings and ancestral lineages of my heritage across Africa, India, and the Caribbean. I create non-denominational, supportive spaces rooted in compassion, presence and dignity. In my own life, I remain connected through women’s groups, meditation circles, and retreats, all of which help keep me grounded, spiritually nourished, and connected to the ancestors.

My approach is gentle and intentional: no advice, no fixing, just steady, generous, person-centred attention.

Healing Image is not about fixing you. It is about creating spaces where women can return to themselves. Where it is safe to reveal. Where there is room to soften, release, and be fully met. Where care, presence, and belonging become possible again.
