My background: I am a German national based in Istanbul/Turkey. I grew up in Austria and Portugal and spent part of my high school time in Wisconsin/USA. I studied Political Science and Economics at IEP in Paris, France, completed a MBA programme and a post graduate degreee in development studies in Germany. In the subsequent years I worked as a financial analyst in Frankfurt (www.pwc.com), as infrastructure economist in London (energy consulting S&W of www.shawgrp.com) and policy advisor and consultant in Nairobi (www.giz.org and www.pwc.com/ke) on projects in emerging economies worldwide before I became independent (www.reformconsult.com).
My work has focused on policy and regulatory frameworks for private investments and entrepreneurship, PPPs design and transactions, investment finance and the design of viable business models for social, environmental and economic development.
This is a theme that I am still very excited about: how to develop innovations for social change, economic development and sustainable growth?
I currently work on a research project at the Istanbul Policy Centre/Sabanci University supported by the German Mercator Foundation and the Rockefeller Foundation through the Impact Investing Policy Collaborative (www.iipcollaborative.org) to look at the landscape and eco-sytem for social entrepreneurship and social investment in Turkey focusing on the climate change sector.
I also enjoy learning new things outside my professional life and meeting with like-minded people. This is why in 2011, I started hosting a discussion group called Think'N'Chat with the objective of creating an informal forum for creativity, inspiration and dialogue in Istanbul.
Otherwise I am busy learning Turkish, getting in shape for the Istanbul Marathon (no, only the 15km run!), spending time with my family - and looking for time to take up my instruments (flute and piano).
