Hello everyone!

My name is Ann-Marie Reid and I am a teacher in Ontario. I am currently on extended maternity leave with my 14 month old! I miss teaching but am really loving this time with my son.

I have worked in the same school since I started Occasional Teaching in 2009. The school I work at is one of three ELD sites in our board and also has a large ESL population. When I was first starting out, I wasn’t getting a lot of supply work, so I started volunteering in ELD classrooms. At that time, the ELD program in our school board was going through a revamp and so it was exciting to see a ‘new’ program develop, grow and flourish. I have mostly taught ELD and ESL ever since (with some English and Foods courses peppered in!). Most recently I have been teaching ELD AO/BO and I really love working with the beginner level students. I was also the ESL Lead at my school for two years before going off on maternity leave.

As far as hobbies go, I really love running. I have run several marathons and was a “Pace Bunny” a few times. I also play recreational softball and volleyball.

The more I teach, the more I realize that I'm constantly still learning. I am always looking for new ideas, strategies and perspectives. I am really looking forward to taking this course!
