Ann Taricone Kinney was born in Brooklyn, NY. From a very early age she loved art. Her interest in photography started at a young age as she watched images magically appear in her father’s basement darkroom. Encouraged by her mother, she also painted and drew and took classes at the Brooklyn Museum.
After graduating high school she attended The School of Visual Arts in New York City and then transferred to Wayne State University in Detroit, MI, where she received a BFA with a concentration in photography. While in Detroit she was the chief photographer and editor for the student newspaper. Here she learned to tell stories with her images that describe the places and events in every day lives. Upon returning to New York City she continued to photograph people and places while make her living in photographic composites and production..
Over the years she has developed a love of the outdoors and now spends as much time photographing nature as she does people and places. Digital photography has replaced film and given her more time to work with the imagery.
After living in Hoboken, NJ for over thirty-five years, she now Today she lives in New City, NY and the Jersey Shore with frequent trips to Coastal Georgia. She teaches science when she is not photographing her world.
