Art is about emotional response. One of the most important goals for me, as an artist, is to create pieces that make happy people. I create color filled pieces that focus on my favorites things. Among the subjects are the sea and her creatures, pets, friendly villages, funky flowers and many other organic subjects.

My body of work is centered upon an abstract, contemporary, mixed-media concept that I refer to as ‘Near Real’. Near Real is a work that marries familiar subject matter with extensive mark making, doodling and layers of color. It is my label for my work.

The process is exciting and joyful. I cannot always predict the outcome and that is the best part of this methodology. Random results means that I only create originals. There are no prints nor are there limited reproductions of any work.

If there is any chance that my work evokes the same cheerful, bright, free from conformity happiness in you that it does in me, then I will have accomplished my goal. I do sincerely hope you find a smile in, or a connection to one of my pieces- and in so doing that you share the adventure of happy, vivid, magical, silly, near-real Whimsyville.
