Anna Larkin
Media and Communications Advisor in Briagolong, Australia
I’m Anna, a Media and Engagement Advisor at Southern Rural Water in Maffra, Victoria.
Before this job, I worked at CFA and SES in community education and public information during floods, fires, earthquakes and other emergencies. This is where my love of media began.
I moved from the Emergency Services to Wellington Shire Council where I supported communities to plan and implement projects and events for their town. I also trained and mentored Council staff in engagement.
My job at Southern Rural Water is three days a week which gives me plenty of time for my studies - Bachelor of Communication (Digital Media) and to enjoy my hobbies and friends.
I am passionate about dogs and am often referred to - kindly - as "the weird dog lady" in my town because I have two dogs of my own and regularly walk and care for other dogs.
I also enjoy photography, film-making and composing music on my beloved Ipad.
Since my husband died tragically four years ago, I have caught the travel bug and have been to Lord Howe Island, Vietnam, India, Nepal and Bali. Vietnam was my favourite place. The people there are so warm and friendly.
2018 is "The Year of the Dog" and is my year, with a new job, online course, a trip to Canada/Alaska planned, a house sold and arrangements coming into focus to demolish and rebuild my home. It should be an interesting year.
