Anna Sullivan

Hi! I'm Anna. You can call me "Queen Bee." That's what Siri (my phone) calls me. I am a social network enthusiast. Ever since my older sister introduced me to Myspace, I have enjoyed sharing my pictures and my thoughts with my friends through social networks. As you probably know, social networks are extremely popular today. It's almost sad as to how much they have taken over our lives and taken away face to face conversation, but that's just how technology has evolved with the years. Because I am only 19, I have grown up with social networks. I started Myspace when I was only in 6th grade (before I had a cellphone). Today, with the use of smart phones, anybody can log onto their social network at any time and in any place to share what they are doing. I consider myself an avid social networker. However, I have moved on from Myspace to better things. I use Twitter, to share my feelings on a subject. I use YikYak, to share anonamously my feelings on a subject. I use Instagram, to share pictures of what I am doing. I use Snapchat, to share pictures that aren't worthy of Instagram. I use GroupMe, to keep up with a specific group of friends at all times. I use Pinterest, to share picures with people all over the world. And lastly, I use Facebook, to do all of the above. I am telling you this because this is where I have done most of my writing since I have been in school. I can't say that this is a good thing. I have learned to shorten my writing so much to fit it into 140 characters for Twitter. I've learned the online lingo to further shorten my words, so much that they aren't even words anymore, for texting and emailing. This is something that has caused me to struggle with my writing today. It is something that I am slowly overcoming, but will probably stuggle with throughout my college years. Writing papers, I have been forced to make my writing more lengthy and meaningful. As challenging as it is for me, I have enjoyed it and will continue to strive for excellence in my writing.
