Ever since I was an English teacher a million years ago, I have been fascinated by the power of language to influence and impact people. It is no wonder that my background, after that short stint in the classroom, has always landed me in jobs where communication counted: sales, training, coaching, and writing. I worked on Wall Street, sold advertising for the prestigious Institutional Investor magazine, moved into training and development, ran a communications firm for someone else, and then launched my own business some twenty-five years ago where I have helped executives and salespeople win business and create change in their worlds, largely through mixing best practices with a heightened awareness of choosing just the right words to say.
