Anne Mucheke
Writer and Editor in Nairobi
I am a communications professional with close to 20 years of experience as a journalist, communications manager and trainer. I am highly skilled in journalism, media and public relations, corporate communications and magazines particularly for non-profit organizations.
My previous employment record has been as Head of Public Relations for the International Committee of the Red Cross, worked for The Nairobi Chapel (religious organization) and as a writer across several African countries. I am a co-founder of a creative outfit - Santuri Media - where we curate memory projects and tell stories we all need to hear. I am currently engaged as a freelance writer, covering the arts. I am also a pool trainer for the Training Centre in Communications (TCC - Africa) helping scientists and researchers communicate with non-scientific audiences. This is my current passion - science communication which I am working to develop.
My forays cuts across my native home in Kenya to writing experiences in Tanzania, Nigeria and South Africa. I am an author of Eko: Our City, Our stories - a book on memory focused around 50 years of Lagos State.
My passion is telling the African story accurately and with dedication. Africa has too much potential to be left in the hands of outsiders.
