The daughter of an American World War II and Korea fighter pilot veteran and a Colombian mother, Annette got her start as an entrepreneur when she was 13-years old, selling oranges to her neighbors from their family's ranch in Colombia. In 1995, Annette founded LanguageSpeak, a language services company that offers translations in over 240 languages. LanguageSpeak has been named one of the top 100 small businesses in Florida and one of the top 500 Hispanic owned businesses in the United States by Diversity Business.
Annette started her political career in 2008 when she became the Democratic nominee for Congress in South Florida's 18th District. Although all the odds were stacked against her. she proved her strength by receiving more votes than any other Democrat who's run in that district, and her fundraising prowess by raising a record 1.3 million. Since then, she has served as Democratic Party Chair of Florida's largest County, Miami-Dade, and currently is Vice Chair of the Florida Democratic Party as well as on the Executive Committee of the DNC.
During the 2012 general election, Taddeo was a spokesperson for the Obama for America reelection campaign. Annette is a frequent political commentator on MSNBC, CNN, Univision and Telemundo, providing political analysis on all manner of national issues and has hosted her own Sunday political show on CNN latino called Taddeo2Day.
in 2014 she was selected as Governor Charlie Crist's running-mate for Florida Lt. Governor. The Crist/Taddeo ticket was one of the closest Governors races in the country coming within 1%. Her role in the gubernatorial campaign was greatly enhanced by her grassroots mobilizing abilities and dynamic speaking skills.
In a recent Miami Herald article about Annette the headline read: "Even to opponents, Crist running mate Annette Taddeo is a 'class act'. The Miami-Dade County Republican Party leader quickly summed up the opposition’s greatest strength: “The best asset that the Democratic Party has is Annette Taddeo.”
