“Whatever the weather, we're learning together.”
I am a former camp counsellor, certified Lifeguard, and all-around Outdoor Education and adventure enthusiast, I love seeing children build confidence and skills through challenging activities and teamwork. Of course, along with that territory comes some element of risk, which is why I pride myself on maintaining current Standard First Aid, CPR-C and AED certifications.
I aim for my classroom to be the calm within the storm for both students and myself. Everyone is welcome, and we are respectful and mindful of others. Through “Mindful Time”, student-centred, inquiry, and play-based learning, students develop their knowledge and social skills. Learning is accessible to all as a standard practice, not only when required.
Students are encouraged to share their unique backgrounds and passions with the class, and I will do the same. Here I am pictured in Lille, France, where I completed an exchange during my undergraduate degree. You might have spotted the baguette in my backpack, which I picked up from the bakery by my school. Visiting the bakery was one of my favourite pastimes while living there!
