Annie is a creative strategist, landscape and graphic designer, artist, filmmaker and writer. A dual citizen of Canada and the United States, she has professional experience across a wide range of disciplines – from landscape and urban design and sustainable food system optimization, to writing, research, and editing, photography and graphic design, to sales, marketing, visual communications, and in the world of sustainable organic food (on farms, in gardens, at farmers' markets, in restaurants, and catering).

Her long-standing interests in human geography, sustainability, space- and place-making, genius loci, and the stories people tell about the places they live, inform her approach to sustainable design for ecologically and socially resilient gardens, communities, and cities.

The maxim that truly sustainable design prioritizes healthy children, and results in healthy cities that are better for people of all ages, is the foundation for her handbook on Child Friendly Urbanism – the subject of her 2014 UTSOA Master Design Study – a version of which can be viewed here.
