My name is Annika Tinsley and I love theatre! My main interest is scenic design and scenic painting. One day I want to become a production designer for TV and film. But for now I'd love to continue broadening my knowledge in costumes, props, stage and crew management.I started attending theatre productions at the ripe age of five. I saw shows such as The Phantom of the Opera and The Lion King multiple times during my childhood. I was hooked! However, I did not actually become involved in theatre until high school. During high school I was part of a special program called The Academy for the Performing Arts (APA). APA provided me with an intensive educational program which cultivated disciple, dedication, and commitment to achieve excellence in the arts. My main specialty in APA was scenic painting and scenic design however I was taught light carpentry skills and basic electrical training. During my years in APA, I was involved in many of the musicals and plays including Lend Me a Tenor, Miss Saigon, and Company to nam a few. I then went on to The University of California, Davis where I graduated with a B.A. in Dramatic Art in June 2012. During my time at UC Davis I participated in many of the shows including Spring Dance, The Who's Tommy, and Spelling Bee. Furthermore, during my time at UC Davis I focused on becoming more well rounded in theatre and expanded my knowledge of stage management, crew, costume design and prop design. Since graduating I have been involved with an amazing theatre company located in West Hollywood called The Elephant Theatre Company. I have helped with three of their productions thus far including Love Bites, The North Plan, and Revelations. Recently, I helped out a children's theatre company in Southern California called The Creative Kids Playhouse. I enjoy children and theatre so The Creative Kids Playhouse was a perfect fit!
