Anshul Tewari


Anshul is an Ashoka Fellow and the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of (YKA), which is India's largest online platform for young people to express themselves on issues of importance. He has worked across new media and online journalism as a media entrepreneur and is a first generation entrepreneur. He also serves as a Director on the Board of Collectively, a World Economic Forum and Unilever collaborative non-profit, to help make the future better.

Having started in 2008, he gained extensive experience in citizen media, new media, social media and how to mobilize and engage young people in participatory and collaborative journalism to have a larger impact on a mass audience.

Educated in journalism at the University of Delhi, he started YKA while in high school, as a platform to voice his opinions. The reason for launching this platform was his discovery that the youth, at large, did not have a platform to address critical issues and get heard. has now become India's number 1 youth portal with millions of readers every month and over 40000 volunteer journalists from around the world. After 7 years of bootstrapping and scaling up, Youth Ki Awaaz is raised its first round of investment in 2015, from Raghav Bahl and Ritu Kapur led Quintillion Media. Anshul was named a Young Innovator by the United Nations International Telecom Union for innovation in crowd-sourcing, in 2012. He is currently leading the business development and strategic vision of the organization.
