I spent a lot of my time as a child outside. I always loved to be active and to explore the outdoors. This ranged from playing in my backyard, a park, or exploring the trails around my childhood neighborhood. These were activities that I enjoyed with my older sister.
As we got older though, we started to enjoy different activities outdoors, such as riding horses. I started riding horses when I was in the third grade. We rode in both arenas and fields, and we would explore the trails, creek, and lake behind the barn. Although I enjoyed this greatly, I decided to take a few years off to pursue my interest in gymnastics. However, by seventh grade, I knew I was missing the outdoors, companionship with my horses, and quality time with my sister. I rekindled my passion for training and competing my horses.
Following the end of ninth grade, my family moved onto a farm close to Athens. We brought our horses onto our property. It has been amazing! We have added a mini donkey, cows, chickens, a dog, and a cat to the family. This has been a huge change to living in a suburban neighborhood. In high school, I had to spend multiple hours a day taking care of the horses, which was both a joy and a burden. Luckily, since my farm is only 25 minutes from Athens, I still get to see and ride my horses.
Although I still love the outdoors, I have less free time nowadays. I spend my time focusing on classes while I study to be a Civil Engineer, building relationships with new friends, and riding on the UGA Club Eventing Team with my sister. Much will change within the next year, but I am going to enjoy each day.
