I teach writing and editing and media studies in the School of Journalism and Media Studies at Rhodes University in Grahamstown, South Africa (www.ru.ac.za/jms). I edit the Rhodes Journalism Review (www.rjr.ru.ac.za), a specialist magazine aimed at the journalists of Africa. I write a blog on writing, reading and research at (www.writexgenres.wordpress.com). With Herman Wasserman I run a research project on the Media and Citizenship in South Africa (http://mediaandcitizenship.ru.ac.za/). I'm involved in a Global South research project on migrant identities with Dr Anil Persaud at Ambedkar University in Delhi, Radhika Borde, a PhD student at the Environmental Policy group of Wageningen University, the Netherlands, and Dr Mario Rufer, Professor-Researcher at the Autonomous Metropolitan University in Mexico City.
