After leaving Sacred Heart College in Johannesburg in 1992 Anthony studied teaching at JCE, now Wits. He worked in England for 5 years before returning to Johannesburg in 2006. After two years in recruitment he moved back into teaching and is now at Dainfern College in Johannesburg
As Director of Technology at Dainfern Anthony has had the opportunity to run a BYOD programme . He is a firm believer in the opportunities that technology provides teachers in terms of personal development and classroom opportunities, as well as the option to save time. The school has now moved towards a Chromebook programme in order to more fully manage the use of devices on premisies.
As a previousApple Education Trainer with Leadership focus, Google Education Group Leader and Google Education Trainer he is always looking for ways to use Google and Apple in the classroom. Recently he qualified to be a Kami Edu trainer.
He teaches Maker and IT at Dainfern College and uses Google Apps extensively in these lessons. Dainfern College also uses GAFE to manage all email, calendar and facilities for the school.
His move towards a Maker philospophy was underpinned by a desire to let students experiment and create using both tradition tools and modern technology, including 3D printing and other addidtive and subtractive manufacturing.
He loves to play with new ideas for using tech in teaching and is constantly looking for better ways to engage students in the learning process, while still making them effective digital and global citizens.
The curerent buzz around AI has caught his attention and he is now working on implementing AI at school, for both teachers and students. To further this he acheievd his Gemini Teacher certification.
He has two daughters, Riley and Regan.
