Being active has always been my passion. Growing up in Columbia, Maryland, I used to feel hopeless due to the cold weather and freezing temperatures. Having snow pile up and block my front door at times had me feeling as if it was impossible to ever go outside! However, everything changed once I discovered gymnastics. At the age of eight years old, my mother enrolled me into my first ever gymnastics class.

At first, I thought that gymnastics would have the most lasting impact on my life. I only spent about two months at that facility until I found out that it truly wasn't for me. Quitting gymnastics genuinely felt like a roadblock in my extracurricular “career.”

A couple months later my mom and I met a very sweet lady at church. Surprisingly enough, this same lady ended up being a dance instructor and I became the very first student at her studio!

I spent a couple of years doing dance, but unfortunately I moved down to Georgia and I wasn't able to attend her classes anymore. However, the story doesn't end there!

Finally, and coincidentally, we met another woman at church that referred us to a very good cheerleading program. It is safe to say that I was more than excited. From the very first day, I met some of my life long friends.

I am so grateful that cheerleading has stuck with me ever since that very moment. I have been doing cheer both competitively and recreationally for the past eight years, and I wouldn't trade that up for the world! Cheerleading has been one of the biggest motivators throughout my life. Today, I am so grateful to say that giving up on gymnastics was only the beginning to my story.
