Anthony Qi

Anthony Qi was born in Buffalo, New York, but grew up in Houston, Texas, in a family that encouraged both curiosity and discipline. His upbringing emphasized learning, exploration, and resilience, values that shaped his approach to both academics and career. After high school, he was admitted to the Business Honors Program at the University of Texas at Austin, one of the most competitive programs in the country, where he began developing skills that combined analytical rigor with adaptability.

At UT Austin, Anthony majored in Finance and minored in Spanish, graduating in 2018 with a major GPA of 3.5. The program immersed him in complex case studies and collaborative projects, sharpening his problem-solving abilities and leadership style. In 2015, he studied abroad at the Universidad de San Andrés in Buenos Aires, where he pursued program management courses and gained fluency in Spanish through a challenging and immersive cultural and academic experience.

His early professional development included internships with Goshawk Global Investments, Nine Ten Capital Management, and Intertek in Shanghai. These roles gave him valuable exposure to global markets and diverse industries, preparing him for his career at Highside Global Management. At the $250 million hedge fund, he spent nearly four years sourcing investment ideas, managing sector coverage, and applying disciplined analysis to identify opportunities, always grounding his recommendations in data and clear reasoning.

Anthony eventually shifted toward software and product development, where he merged his financial background with technical creativity. As the first employee at a startup serving hedge funds and journalists, he contributed to every stage of product creation, from designing features to building datasets and forming client relationships. His work included developing tools that tracked regulatory activity and industry payments, while also creating statistical models that increased accuracy in investment forecasting and risk management.
