With a passion for horses, Antoinette Rand possesses a dedication to promoting Western-style equine competitions through her involvement in associations throughout the South and Southwestern United States. Antoinette Rand supports numerous equine organizations, including the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) and the Southwest Reining Horse Association (SWRHA).
Texas resident Antoinette Rand also holds membership in the Texas Reining Horse Association (TRHA), which holds regular horse reining events. Horse reining is a Western-style competition, similar to dressage, in which riders lead their horses through a number of movements and patterns, including spins and stops. As in dressage, the rider must communicate well with the horse. In order to obtain a good score, the horse must perform a series of movements without any indication of resistance. In addition to competing in numerous reining events every year, Antoinette Rand also participates in Team in Training (TNT), a combination endurance-training program and race that the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society has directed for 22 years. TNT helps athletes train for a variety of events, such as marathons, half marathons, triathlons, hikes, and a 100-mile bike ride. Joining TNT three years ago, Antoinette Rand was thrilled to run in the Whiterock Half Marathon, an annual 13.1 mile race held in Dallas that raises money for the Scottish Rite Hospital for Children.
