Musician, Public Speaker, and Writer in Albuquerque, New Mexico
Hi, I’m Antonio. I’m a musician living in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Music has become an essential element in defining my identity. I started my music career playing guitar at 15 years old with the guidance of my mentor Aj Martinez. I soon became skilled in Tejano and New Mexico Music where I played lead guitar for bands like Grupo Melodia, Aj Martinez and Taralynn, NMHMA All-Star Band, Vero Y Su Dulzura, Marissa Sandoval and many more.
I left New Mexico when I was 18 to pursue a degree in Sociology and Anthropology at Earlham College in Indiana. At Earlham, I found my second musical mentor, Pavel Polanco-Safadit who is a world renown Jazz pianist and director of the Latin Jazz band at Earlham. With Pavel I learned the music of the islands; Merengue, Salsa, Cha Cha, Reggeton and many more. Not only did I play guitar with the Latin Jazz group but I picked up the congas, bongos, timbales, guiro & guira dominicana, and the tambora dominicana. I have since returned to Albuquerque and look forward to continuing my music career. If you feel I am a good fit for your group, feel free to reach out to me.
