I attended Concordia University- Ann Arbor for my Bachelor's Degree in Public Policy & Legal Studies where there was a culture of allowing each person to be the voice of change in spite of or perhaps because of where they come from.

Each day I try to adopt the philsophy of creating hope, making a difference, and changing the lives of others for the better. I belive that each day of our lives we should be able to make a positive impact on the lives of others. Who I am as a person is not in spite of my circumstances but because of them. We all have a story, some of them more compelling than others.

I grew up in a single parent home and attended 15 different elementary schools, about 4-5 different middle schools, and 4 different high schools. I was in 3 different group homes, and 3 different foster homes. Finally and perhaps the biggest impact on my life is going to prison (12 total thoughout my stay). It's interested when people read that I have gone to prison. Some understand why and feel sorry for me and others assume they know but have no clue. When I was 18 and a senior in high school I had a sexual relationship with a 15 year old young woman. I accepted full responsibility for my actions. I do not call what I did a mistake, because a mistake is a way of negating responsibility for something, I call it a poor choice.

After prison, I attended Lansing Community College where I was given a second chance to excel. At one point I was the Co-Chairperson of the Student Advisory Committee to the President. I also served as a Student Advisor to the Director of Student Life, Chairperson of the Black History Month Committee in 2011 & 2012
