I have moved around for what felt like 100 times in my life. I came to the US when I was around 7 and was living in buffalo New York. and then I moved to new Jersey. I lived in like 3 different houses in new jersey before going to boarding school with my brother in Egypt, after that I came back to the US, and my family has lived in Georgia ever since. One thing that has remained constant in all the moving around is my passion for art, or at least my passion to be good at art. my earliest memory of me not being very good at art was in the 4th grade. My school was giving out awards for the end of the year and was giving out crystal glass clear trophies. I wanted one really bad and if anything, I thought there was no way I wouldn't get one. This was because I was very smart in elementary and expected to make an impression on at least one of my teachers. time and time again the awards were called and I hadn't gotten anything. I was sitting near my art teacher, and she was reassuring me that everything was just fine. then the art award came and i had given up any hope of getting one trophy to validate my feels of being a “good” student. but for some reason I still had a tiny bit of hope that the art trophy was the one this was the one I would get and then they call the name they called my best friends name, and I nearly burst into tears. Ive done art ever since I'm not sure why, I did art on my own time, (I even wanted to go to an art high school my parents shut that down really quick). I refused to watch tutorials and gain new skills which is very weird for someone who enjoys something so much. Ive done digital art, drawing and painting, into art, crafts. I've never really gotten any recognition for my art, but I keep doing it despite all of that. I make custom things for myself. I have bedazzled so many things. I dyed, spray painted and customized things for my college dorm. It doesn't take recognition to validate what I like to do in my own time. Even if other people don't acknowledge what you like most.
