Software Engineer, Mother, and Consultant in Karlsruhe, Deutschland
Hello there! I am Anuja. I was born in India, and moved to Singapore for my education and first work experiences.
I worked at Oracle Singapore as a product designer and developer, for bank managers. My goal was to design interfaces presenting large information, and helping bankers make informed credit decisions.
I moved to Karlsruhe for research in user-centred design. I measured emotions of people using sensors, and used this information to understand them better and aid better decision making processes of users. I worked on varied domains - auctions and bidding behavior, trading decisions, strategic games for cooperative behavior, quantifying creative flow of writers, detecting panic during crisis events, among others - with the same common thread of understanding user decisions and designing for users.
Alongside my PhD, I managed the design and development of a platform (Brownie) to assist researchers interested to collect Bio-sensor data. A quick preview of the tool can be found below.
I currently work as a consultant and product developer for an engineering product being used by over 6000 engineers, and love how having a solid business know-how empowers the design process from early on. I enhance the daily processes of the engineers through simple automation techniques, providing search optimizations, and developing by studying repeated as well as rare usage behavior.
I believe that design should facilitate optimal and good user decisions, thus making them come back to our products naturally.
As a fun design activity, I also wrote an Indian cook book in German, to encourage vegetarianism and to share my grandma's loving recipes to the world. The book is available on Amazon under the name "Grüner Indischer Teller"
My favorite quote is one by Normal Vincent Peale:
"What the mind can conceive and believe, and the heart desire truly, you can achieve."
Love - Moments when one can find simple solutions to complex problems.
Live for - working with creative and socially responsible people
Thrive for - joy of bringing smiles through my work.
