In the 1990's he was scouted by MTV chiefs and appointed as the first ever Head of A&R, where he pioneered the MTV Immies and cross pollinated Indian music talent with the West. Anurag Rao put India on the map as a force to be reckoned with at a time when Bollywood was fast becoming popularized globally. He pioneered several international broadcast properties and was pivotal to the inception of the MTV Immies. Anurag brokered the talent deals for legendary acts from India like the Colonial Cousins and the Princess of Bollywood at the time Aishwarya Rai on her debut award show outside of India. Joe Satriani, Trilok Gurtu, Baz Luhrmann, AKON, Pussy Cat Dolls are just some of the names that Anurag has worked with.
Anurag is also a lead guitarist and music business manager for 'Farhan Live' lead by Bollywood actor, director, singer & songwriter Farhan Akthar.
