I’m Anushka, and I’m a student at the University of Georgia living in Athens. Athens, being one of those college towns which thrives on providing the merriment of students, catalyzed one of my interests further through the availability of live-music clubs! I love music, which I’m aware seems to be THE most common trait the people in the world tend to share. However, to me, music would be among my most unique interests that I take pride in sharing. One word that stood out to me when people would describe my music taste is: universal. I’d like to think that I have an eclectic taste in music, whether or not it fits into the Top 40 or is under the popular genre. Don’t get me wrong, I do love to listen to the next Ariana Grande song and will totally be on top of the newest rap album, but I also wouldn’t mind exploring into new, different genres of music. Take for example, the Arab music genre. Most songs in this genre have unique bars and different, yet incredible styles of melody. This says a lot about me because I do love to try new things and keep an open mind. Music has also shaped me in the sense of the emotions that each song provides. Whenever I’m a little down and needed to actually feel those emotions before moving on, there was definitely a song to play for it. Whenever I would need to uplift myself, I would press the play button and immerse myself in the positive connotation a song provides. Music, by being a hobby that has such a high influence over me, played a role of building the person I am to this day.
