Apolinary Boniface Margwe

Apolinary Boniface Margwe, popularly known as Apollo, is a young leader and communications professional from Tanzania, widely recognized for his significant contribution to politics and public engagement through social media. Since October 2024, Apollo has been serving as the Head of the Social Media Department for the Chama cha Demokrasia na Maendeleo (CHADEMA), the main opposition party in Tanzania. In this role, he oversees digital communication strategies, strengthens the party’s online presence, and enhances citizen participation in political discussions.
Before assuming this position, Apollo served as the Information and Communications Officer for the CHADEMA Youth Council (BAVICHA) from March 2018 to October 2024, where he led various youth campaigns and managed the council’s national communications. Notably, during the 2020 General Election, he led the digital campaign team for Presidential Candidate Tundu Lissu under CHADEMA, coordinating online communication strategies and implementing innovative campaigns that reached millions of Tanzanians both at home and abroad.
Academically, Apollo holds a Bachelor of Arts with Education from the University of Dodoma (UDOM), specializing in Fine Art and Graphic Design as his teaching subjects. Although he is no longer in the teaching profession, he applies this expertise effectively in his political work, particularly in designing and managing digital content as the party’s Head of the Social Media Department.
He has also participated in several national and international workshops and training programs, including the Chadema Leadership Awards organized by CHADEMA and the Danish Institute for Parties and Democracy (DIPD) (2017–2018), the Political Youth Camp in Copenhagen, Denmark (2019), the Election Bridge Academy in Ethiopia organized by KAS Media Africa (2020), and the Youth League Development Academy organized by the Christian Democratic International Center, Sweden (2020–2022).
Outside of his professional responsibilities, Apollo enjoys spending his personal time listening to music and following speeches by prominent figures, which inspire and broaden his perspective on life.
Apollo has earned a reputation as a hardworking, visionary, and dedicated figure in advancing democracy, youth participation, and the creative use of technology in Tanzanian politics.
