Olaide Ibonye is a UK-based Creative Director and makeup artist, founder of Ara by Laide Makeovers. She specializes in bridal, male grooming , avantgarde , editorial , tv&film, fashion and runway makeup, having relocated from Nigeria to continue building her career in the UK.
Background
A graduate of English Language from the University of Lagos, Laide discovered her love for makeup in 2011, teaching herself through YouTube tutorials before training at the Daystar Skill Acquisition Program, where she graduated top of a class of 90. She turned professional in 2013 and later trained under mentor Danessa Myricks at The Makeup Show in Washington, D.C

With over 100 music videos to her name, Laide has worked alongside top directors including Clarence Peters, Paul Gambit, Unlimited L.A, Aje Films, and Adasa Cookey, and glammed artists such as Davido, Adekunle Gold, Simi, Olamide, and D’banj. Her work has been featured in Bellanaija, Genevieve Magazine, Fashion Bomb Daily, Selin Magazine, and Mob Journal.
Philanthropy
Laide founded the #FightTheOdds campaign for breast cancer awareness, partnering with actress Annie Idibia and photographer Emmanuel Oyeleke. She also collaborated with the OAM Foundation on #BeyondTheComplexion, challenging stereotypes around albinism in Nigeria.
Recognition
A pioneer of avant-garde makeup in Nigeria, Laide has done makeup for dignitaries such as Olusegun Obasanjo, Wole Soyinka, and a former Emir of Kano, and recently led her first art-certified masterclass in Windhoek, Namibia, alongside Dillish Mathews.
