Creative Director and Chief Brush Ara By Laide Makeovers in Lagos, Nigeria
Olaide Ibonye is the Creative Director of Makeup Outfit, Ara by Laide Makeovers. A graduate of English Language from the prestigious University of Lagos, Laide discovered her love for makeup in 2011 while surfing YouTube ,She tried out various makeup tutorials on her roommates while on campus and from there had a basic training at the Daystar Skill Acquisition Program where she emerged the best student out of a class of 90.she started make up professionally in 2013 and also attended the make up show workshop learning a lot more from her mentor Danessa Myricks in Washington D.c in the United States of America.
She has carved a niche for herself in avant-garde, bridal and beauty makeup artistry. Laide has made up for dignitaries such as Olusegun Obasanjo, Wole Soyinka, and the former Emir of Kano to mention a few. She has also worked with top music video directors ,msuch as Clarence Peters, Paul Gambit, Unlimited L.A, Aje Films and Adasa Cookey and a lot of celebrities we see on our screen. Her works have been featured on Bellanaija, Genevieve magazine , Popular fashion blog ( Fashionbombdaily) to mention a few.
Olaide is passionate about charity work and helping people through her art. As a result of this, she started makeup campaign tagged #FightTheOdds last year. #FightTheOdds is aimed at promoting breast cancer awareness and last year she teamed up with actress and entrepreneur Annie Idibia and ace photographer Emmanuel Oyeleke to spread the word on breast cancer and the importance of personal check-up.
Laide also partnered with the OAM foundation on the #BeyondTheComplexion campaign aimed at breaking socio-cultural stereotypes about albinism in Nigeria.
Known for pioneering the avant-garde make up in Nigeria she recently had her first Art certified masterclass in the city of Windhoek in Namibia with ex big brother housemate Dillish Mathews sharing her knowledge to many students.
When she is not busy on set or cooking up new makeup ideas, Laide is either kicking back with her family and friends or watching a movie.
