Archibong Edem Bassey
Public Health Professional and Doctoral Researcher
Archibong Edem Bassey is a passionate and innovative Public Health Professional with over 5 years of experience working with local and international organizations in the area of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) (particularly HIV/AIDs, Adolescent and Youth Health, Intersectionality of human rights, gender and disability). He has also worked in the areas of Mental Health, Peace Building, Global Health, Youth Development, Health Inequalities, Health systems research and policy.
Having graduated in 2019 with a First Class Honours in his bachelor's degree in Public health at the age of 19 from the prestigious University of Calabar, Archibong represents young people in Nigeria doing exploits in academia, as he later won the highly competitive Commonwealth Scholarship in 2021, a fully funded through which he earned his Master's degree in Public Health, with Distinctionat the prestigious University of Warwick, United Kingdom.
Currently, Archibong is a PhD student in the Social Science and Systems in Health (SSSH) unit within Warwick Applied Health, Warwick Medical School. He is funded by the Chancellor's International Scholarship at the University of Warwick.
Archibong is a 2019 AFRICAVE Fellow, an African Mentorship Program designed by Queens Commonwealth Trust Young Leader- Kennedy Ekezie. He is also a 2019 Fellow of The Platform-Young Professional Bootcamp and a 2020 Fellow of President Obama’s Young African Leaders Initiative, trained in Civic Leadership Management at the Regional Leadership Center, Accra, Ghana.
He is also a 2020 Ambassador of the Institute for Economics and Peace, Sydney, Australia, and a 2020 Ambassador of the World Literacy Foundation, Melbourne, Australia.
In 2021, He was recognized as a Changemaker for the Global Leadership Challenge which was held in Oxford, United Kingdom. He was also recently selected as a Young Professional to participate in the 2021/22 Global health mentorships which recognizes young global health leaders across the world.
Archibong believes that accelerating a better understanding of health care and human rights priorities can create opportunities for people to be actively involved to make the world a better place.
He is open to opportunities and platforms to impact positively lives across the globe.
