my unschooled upbringing in the wilds of piedmont North Carolina instilled an insatiable curiosity about relationships: within nature, among people, and between humans and their habitat.

since 2006 I've attended to this interest through farming, with a focus on culinary gardening and perennials. more recently my interest has centered on restorative farming systems.

I strive to undergird my farming practice with an understanding of the ecological dynamics inherent to the property. principles first, methods second.
