Ashley Hawkins
School Librarian and Manga Critic in New York, NY
Ashley Hawkins is a school librarian working in Brooklyn, NY. She is married to Matthew Hawkins, video game expert and archivist. Ashley has a BS in English Language Arts Education from UCF, and an MA in English Literature from the Bread Loaf School of English as well as an MSLIS from Pratt Institute. Previously, she has been a copyeditor and regional editor for various publications. As an academic, she focused on female authorship and stage performance from the Early Modern to the present era.
Much of Ashley's current work revolves around manga and anime in school library settings, as well as critical analysis of Japanese media. As the school librarian at the Tilden Campus in East Flatbush, she has acquired multiple grants to rebuild the collection after the library was defunct for several years.
