Armand Mirpour

Originally from Teheran, Iran, Armand Mirpour came to Sweden as a refugee with his mother at the age of two. Now twenty years later, Armand’s songs about finding your place, your love and your sound in a foreign land have hit home in the speakers of thousands of people around the globe.

Classically trained in the performing arts and with three years at the Royal Swedish Balett School under his belt, Armand Mirpour has made a name for himself on the Swedish music map in a very short amount of time. A handfull of poems set to music, uploaded to the internet for free download, lead to Armand garnering a spot as in-house songwriter at renowned Lateral MGMT & Publishing (representing producers and writers for Britney Spears, Robyn and Madonna as well as managing Taio Cruz and Paloma Faith) and signing a record deal with Warner Music. Since then Armand has been running victory laps around Sweden, playing the biggest festivals and packed clubs for rave reviews.

The debut EP ”I AM A VOLCANO” released the summer of 2010 made way for four singles. The breakthrough single ”Curly Boys Law”, featured on UK Record Of The Day, and the hit singles ”I Am A Volcano”, ”Easy Me Down” and ”Lucky Lady Hotshot” that all went on rotation on nationwide radio. Joining the singles were four videos, penned by Armand himself, and several remixtapes featuring works by some of Swedens most celebrated electro groups (Slagsmålsklubben, Lissi Dancefloor Disaster, MILK). With live appearances on both TV and radio and widespread word to mouth buzz over his energetic live shows, Armand Mirpour has been dubbed a pop sensation by some of the hottest magazines and blogs in Sweden.

When not focusing on his solo career, Armand models (Cheap Monday, H&M, Filippa K, Lagom, Odd Molly) acts and DJs. He's also one third of the brand new Swedish electronica band DUBS (Det Urbana Barnets Sorg).
