Arnita Watson, a dedicated community leader, entrepreneur, and advocate for educational opportunity, announced her candidacy to retain her appointed seat as the Butts County Board of Education, District 4 Board Member in the upcoming May 19, 2026 special election. Local school board positions, including seats on the Butts County Board of Education, are nonpartisan roles that guide policy and oversight for public schools. Drawing on her professional affiliations and experience with board reporting for Clayton County Public Schools, Watson understands the importance of transparent governance, accountability, and results-driven leadership across all five districts in the county.
With a background rooted in community engagement, business ownership, and educational advocacy, Arnita brings a fresh and committed voice to the school board race. As the founder of Blue Destination Travels, LLC, she has empowered professionals and families through travel, entrepreneurship, and life-changing experiences promoting personal growth, resilience, and opportunity. Her work as an upcoming author of The Storm Didn’t Win reflects her personal journey of perseverance, overcoming challenges, and supporting others in pursuing their dreams. Watson is also a proud 1986 graduate of Jackson High School, giving her a lifelong connection to the community and its schools.
