Aron Roberts
Marketing and Biz Dev Consultant in California
I'm an independent, freelance Marketing and Business Development consultant.
My work involves helping small businesses and startup companies tell their story to the world and find customers, allies, and partners on their growth path.
High Sierra Showerheads
Since 2014, I've been consulting with High Sierra Showerheads, a small, family-owned business building shower heads based on a globally unique design, which internally splits and collides water streams. (I liked their products so much as a customer, I now work with them part time in semi-retirement.)
Their products drench you in a luxurious spray of large, heavy droplets, while sustainably saving up to 50% on water (and energy for heating that water) over conventional designs. They've been Best picks by the likes of CNET, CNN Underscored, Wirecutter (a New York Times company), and Popular Science. High Sierra's customers include The Ohio State University, the US Air Force Academy, and Planet Fitness (200+ locations).
Western Ecology LLC
Since 2023, I've also been consulting part time with the entrepreneur at Western Ecology, LLC. They're an environmental consultant and contractor with a focus on land and watershed restoration.
They also design, manufacture, and sell modern versions of the Dixon Land Imprinter (DLI), a tractor-pulled roller device. This device makes funnel-shaped indentations into which it reseeds native grasses, creating an ideal environment for their growth by naturally collecting rainwater and mulch. That, in turn, can help restore robust ecosystems on damaged lands, prevent soil erosion, and even sequester carbon.
Other Small Businesses & Startups
Beginning in 2019, I've made modest investments in approximately 90 small, local businesses and startup companies via crowdfunding campaigns. Some of the startups have world-changing potential in energy, ecology, healthcare and other fields. I support these businesses on a volunteer basis, by notifying them of opportunities and by sharing their work with others.
UC Berkeley
Retired from 31 years of service (1985-2017) in a variety of information technology positions at UC Berkeley. My last role, in the Research IT unit, was an especially fulfilling one, helping faculty, postdocs, grad students and other researchers use Savio, the campus's high performance computing (HPC) cluster.
