I am currently a fourth-year student, majoring in Biological Science at the University of Guelph. I received my Ontario Secondary School Diploma in 2015, while also enrolling at the University of Guelph within the same year. Although I originally intended to pursue an undergraduate degree in engineering, I ultimately chose to major in the Biological Science program for my university career after a change of heart. My hobbies and interests mainly constitute of competing in soccer and basketball, as well as following various professional leagues and organizations, on a day-to-day basis. I have been playing in organized soccer games since the age of six and have been playing basketball recreationally, every now and then. I have been a lifelong Los Angeles Lakers fan, and spend several of my nights watching Lakers games and playing fantasy basketball. The fields of science that have enticed myself would be genetics, of which garnered my interest initially when studying plant and animal genetics in the eleventh grade. I developed an interest in nutrition throughout my second year, where I would like to complete a minor within this field. Amongst the several and notable influences in the science world, Charles Darwin would be the person who I believe has inspired myself the most. While his work on evolutionary theory and particularly the concept of natural selection drew a lot of criticism within his lifetime as well as dealing with great adversity from his colleagues, his work now remains seated within the foundations of modern biology and is rather ubiquitously accepted by the scientific community. My sixth grade science teacher is also influential in presenting science as an intriguing field to myself from an early age. While my current career goal at this stage is relatively undefined, I do wish to pursue completing a Master of Science degree in Cellular Molecular Medicine. My intentions after completing this degree would be to possibly pursue a career in dentistry or be involved in research. I have also considered a path in business, for which I decided to pursue a career outside of science. A fact that I think not a lot of people would know about me is that I write a lot of rap songs for a friend of mine, who records and uploads it to his SoundCloud and YouTube channel. Even though I was uncredited on one of these songs, it did manage to gain one-hundred thousand total views, which is a miscellaneous achievement that I occasionally cherish.
