I am a charity fundraiser.

Donors experience with charities has obsessed me for many years. I have had the privilege of serving donors in some great charities -- Oxfam, ChildFund, UNICEF, Spinal Research, and Rethink.

I'll never forget the telephone conversation I had with a donor that goes to the very heart of why charities must put service, supporter experience and relationship above all other things.

I had called a lady to thank her for her support. She shared with me that she had started supporting the charity shortly after taken over the care of her 7 year old niece, after her sister had died from cancer. She had taken her 7 year old niece shopping, and happened to see a face-to-face fundraiser in a mall. The child asked her Auntie if she could sponsor a child in Kenya for her Mummy. It was heart-breaking, but inspiring.

It is why I love my role as a fundraiser and strive every day to do my very best. I must -- for that young girl, and for the many children who benefit from donor's generosity to UNICEF's programmes.

Outside of my profession, I enjoy family time the most, and also reading, watching football, and admiring the great outdoors.
