My name is Arsalan Omer and I'm a rising Junior at UGA. I have several interests that have always been significant to me and my life. However, sports are perhaps one of the most significant factors in my life.

Many of my early memories revolve around watching games with family and friends, as well as spending hours outside attempting to mimic my favorite players.

When I was much younger I enjoyed watching and participating in many different types of sports. In middle school, I made my middle school soccer A team and we won our district. I still remember the joy I had when we received our medals. When I moved onto high school, I later joined my basketball and volleyball teams. Each sport offered me its own set of skills from building endurance, to communication, to discipline, and much more.

Today I still continue to try to play in tournaments and leagues with my friends whether it's flag football, soccer, or basketball. Aside from appreciating competitive sports, I also enjoy viewing professional sports. My favorite team is Arsenal FC who won the Premier League this season after 22 years. In my free time I'm often watching them or one of my other favorite teams such as the Miami Heat or the Pittsburgh Steelers. Being born near Pittsburgh and living in South Florida I've supported them my whole life.

In my opinion, sports represent something greater than merely entertainment for me. I believe they teach us discipline, teamwork, perseverance and how to respond positivity whether faced with adversity or achieving success. Irrespective of how chaotic life may become sports will forever serve as a motivational area of my life for moving forward as well as providing me with connections to others while inspiring me toward new challenges.
