Art Heinz was born in Carbondale, Illinois the fourth child of Art and Doris Heinz from Livingston, Illinois and St. Louis, Missouri respectively. Three days before his high school graduation, Art had a powerful encounter with Jesus Christ that altered his life and life course. Following graduation from Murray State University and the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary (earning a Master of Arts in Biblical Literature and later a Doctor of Ministry degree in Leadership), Art served on staff at Bacon Park Assembly of God (now called Radiant Life Assembly of God) in Savannah, Georgia and as the Senior Pastor at Westview Assembly of God in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. In 1995 he assumed the pastorate of First Assembly of God (known as Hope Harbor Church today) and has led the church into spiritual, numerical, and financial growth and into a church planting vision that has produced new churches in Cadiz, Kentucky (Word of Hope Church) and in Paris, Tennessee (Bridge of Hope Church). Art has been married to his wife Kelli for 27 years (whom he met while in college). Kelli is an accomplished workplace trainer and adult educator currently teaching college level courses in public speaking, communication, group processes, and human resource management. She is presently working on her PhD in Organizational Leadership with a major in Human Resource Development at Regent University. Kelli has been actively involved in the church planting ministry, leading worship, and the teaching ministry. She loves her poodle Princess, also known as PeePoo (notice they share the same hair color…well, this week).
Art and Kelli have one son, Tim, a senior at Murray State University and rabid Cards fan (just like his Dad), who loves God and the ministry and pursues interests in music and technology. Tim plays the drums (and he plays a pretty mean bass and guitar as well) at the Murray site and helped to establish the Hope Harbor church plants in Cadiz, KY and Paris, TN. He is the founder and the programming director for our 24 hour internet based Hope Harbor radio station (click here) featuring the best contemporary Christian music today and teaching from our daily podcast. He also serves as the Youth Pastor at Hope Harbor Church and is also responsible for creative content management for the church’s website and services.
