Arthur Kerwin

Throughout his life, Arthur Kerwin has held a deep appreciation for the value of community service. As a senior at St. Francis High School in Wheaton, a suburb just west of Chicago, Illinois, Kerwin tutored children from low-income families. He has much to offer as a tutor, given the fact that he ranked in the top one percent nationally on his PSAT exam; for his efforts, he gained designation as a National Merit Scholar Semi-Finalist. Arthur Kerwin continued his academic success as a college student, earning high marks and placement on the dean’s list at the University of Iowa. Kerwin also garnered invaluable tutoring experience through Kaplan Test Prep, and he currently acts as a self-employed LSAT tutor, a role that requires him to self-promote and create and execute lesson plans. Kerwin also volunteered his time at Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry, Inc., a food distribution organization located in Naperville, Illinois. He helped hand out food and organize the inventory, working between 12 and 15 hours a week. Additionally, Arthur Kerwin helped develop the nonprofit’s Adopt-a-Family program, which places families into homes. Kerwin also currently volunteers with the Unemployment Appeals Clinic of the University of Wisconsin Law School, a volunteer-run organization staffed by students. In this position, Arthur Kerwin evaluates post-denial client claims for unemployment. Arthur Kerwin is currently studying to earn his JD at the University of Wisconsin Law School; he expects to receive his degree in 2013. In addition, he hopes to gain legal experience through an internship this summer. Aside from his community service, Kerwin has obtained food industry experience through server positions at Houlihan’s and Flat Top Grill, both in Illinois. He also worked at Whole Foods Market, serving in the Produce Department. During college, Arthur Kerwin cultivated leadership skills through several administrative positions at Delta Upsilon International Fraternity. In his free time, he enjoys playing chess, hiking, fishing, and reading Google News.
