Artist Take
Writer, Editor, and Artist in St. Louis MO USA
Artist Take is a nonprofit organization founded by Davion "Dismoc Le Me" Coleman, with a mission to uplift and amplify underserved artists from predominantly Black and minority communities. Created by artists, run by artists, our platform exists to give a voice to creatives who have long been marginalized and underrepresented in the arts industry.
We have successfully launched several impactful programs, including:
LMNT Poetry – A free, quarterly open mic event hosted at The Kre8ive Shop studio, providing a welcoming space for poets and spoken word artists to share their work with the public.
The Popcorn Easel Artshow – A traveling art exhibition and performance showcase that brings emerging artists to multiple cities, helping them grow their audiences and build connections across communities.
The Funk Before Christmas Artshow – An annual group show held in the weeks leading up to the holidays. This event gives artists, performers, and vendors the opportunity to sell their work and merchandise during the holiday season.
We also run two digital programs:
Take One – An interview series that spotlights individual artists, offering a deeper look into their creative journeys and inspirations.
The Spotlight Verse – A curated feature that highlights standout poets who have performed at LMNT Poetry, recognizing their achievements and celebrating their voices.
We also successfully produced a monologue series titled "I’m A Woman! And You Can’t Define Me." — a powerful project led by Dismoc Le Ma, created to celebrate and amplify the diverse voices and experiences of women.
At Artist Take, we’re committed to building spaces where creativity thrives and every artist feels seen, supported, and celebrated.
