Andrea Sarralde

I am a 28-time Emmy® Award-winning journalist, Telly Award recipient, documentary filmmaker, and Co-Founder of Lunamar Films, with more than two decades of experience as a producer, host, and storyteller in television, radio, and digital media across the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. My work has consistently focused on uplifting and empowering the Latino community by telling stories that inform, inspire, and drive meaningful change.

For seven years, I have served as a Communications and Community Engagement Consultant for Montgomery Community Media, where I created and led the “Hola Montgomery” Spanish-language platform, expanding access to trusted local news and information for Latino residents. I have also worked as a producer, reporter, and communications consultant for the Emerson Diversity Health Foundation, developing culturally relevant health communication strategies and multimedia campaigns.

For more than ten years, I worked as a reporter, news anchor, and television news producer at Telemundo Washington, covering issues that directly impact Latino families. My experience also includes developing strategic content, storytelling initiatives, and video productions for the Montgomery County Council and the U.S. Agency for Global Media.

Since 2006, I have hosted and produced “Línea Directa,” a long-running Community Affairs television program dedicated to educating the Latino community on political, economic, educational, immigration, and health issues. “Línea Directa” has proudly received three Emmy® Awards, reflecting its impact and excellence in community service journalism.

I am a native of Colombia and hold a degree in Mass Communications and Journalism from the prestigious Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá, Colombia. I also earned a Master’s Degree in Community Management and Social Media from the University of Barcelona in Spain. In addition, I am certified as a documentary filmmaker by the Sundance Institute, further strengthening my commitment to powerful, socially driven storytelling through film.
