Alexis DeVault

My name is Alexis DeVault and I am a sophomore at Frostburg State University. I am majoring in Elementary/Middle School Education with a concentration in mathematics. Currently, I am in Phase I of the education program and will be observing a few schools throughout the semester.

I was born and raised in Frostburg, MD where I attended Mountain Ridge High School. While at Mountain Ridge I was a member of the softball, soccer, cross country, and track and field teams. I was also a part of the diamonds dance team. I was an active member of the Future Educators of America club, which played a large part in my decision of wanting to become a middle school teacher. My favorite pastime is running and I am currently on the Cross Country and Track and Field teams at Frostburg State University. When I am not running, I enjoy spending time with my family and my two dogs, Spike and Sprinkles. After receiving a bachelor's degree in Elementary/Middle School Education, I plan on continuing my education at Frostburg State to receive a master's degree in Special Education. I have volunteered with the unified sports teams at Mountain Ridge, which has made me want to pursue this degree. I hope to one-day make a positive difference in the lives of young children. Once I graduate, I hope to receive a job teaching either special education or middle school mathematics.

One of my favorite quotations has always been “If your dreams don’t scare you, than they’re not big enough." This quote has encouraged me to dream big and to always strive for my goals no matter how impossible they may seem to achieve.
