I am a so-called self-taught artist from Durgapur, an industrial town in West Bengal, India. In my early years I denied to learn anything conventional and was doing abstract when everybody else my age was learning to draw trees and birds. My early paintings helped me enjoy the attention of lots of famous intellectual artists, writers and film personalities.
For past few years I have been living and working in Delhi. I have had solo and group shows in Delhi in 1997, 1999, 2000 and 2003. My works have been collected by numerous prominent personalities in India, Canada, UK and USA.
This particular work was shown in Artist Wanted’s Art Takes Times Square billboard premier on 18 June 2012 between 8.15 to 8.45. Here is the link,
Apart from figurative, semi-figurative, and abstract works in oil, acrylic, mixed media, water color, ink, I’ve also used incision on paper technique for a series of abstract works done in 2000. Since 2000 I have been preoccupied with the pictorial exploration of the paradoxical structure of reality.
My latest series was titled 'insufficient forms' which was based on asymmetric lines of familiar objects and figures. Currently i'm working on a series of works that explore the condition of humanity in the contemporary world.
